XIII^th National Conference of IASG Bhopal 2003

Minutes of the Executive Committee Meeting

Held on Saturday 20.09.03            8.00-10.00AM 

1.       Attendance Sheet – enclosed.

2.       Secretary’s Report was approved – enclosed.

3.       Audited account was approved – enclosed.

4.       Secretary informed that he was trying to obtain financial support from his academic contacts abroad as well as from the pharmaceutical and equipment industry for various IASG activities.

5.       IASG Calender was approved – enclosed

6.       IASG National Conference guidelines were approved -  enclosed

7.       District Level CMEs – preference to be given to non-teaching institutions. Organizers should invite one of President/ President Elect/ Immediate Past President/ Secretary as a faculty member who should submit a report on the CME to the Secretary.

8.       Two applications were received for Travelling Fellowship

1. Dr Amaresh  Mishra, Chennai

2. Dr Shaleen Agarwal, SGPGIMS, Lucknow

Both were approved (Rs 5,000 each)

9.       No nominations were received for the post of President Elect (2003-2004) – fresh nominations to be invited.

10.   Five nominations were  received for five posts of  Executive Committee Members (2003-2005)

.Dr Anil Agarwal, New Delhi, Dr SA Dhorepatil, Pune, Dr SP Haribhakti, Ahmedabad, Dr MD Ibrarullah, Chennai, Dr SK Raul, New Delhi

All were declared elected.

11.   Report of Constitution Review Committee was discussed – to be discussed in General Body Meeting.

12.   State Chapters – guidelines to be formed (Action: Secretary IASG)

13.   IASG Website to be transferred to the Secretariat for prompt updating.

14.   New Awards – Secretary announced two new awards

1.KC Tan – SGPGIMS Fellowship – details enclosed

2.T Nonami – SGPGIMS Award – details enclosed

15.   IASG  desires that its members maintain the following records (from agenda)

·          Admission Discharge Register

Sl No., Regn No, Name, Age, Sex, Address, Date of Adm, Date of Oper, Date of Disch/ Death, Diagnosis, Operation, Complications, Outcome, Cause of death

·          Operation Register

Sl No., Date, Elective/ Emergency, Name, Age, Sex, Regn. No., Diagnosis, Operative Findings, Operative Procedure, Intraoperative Complications, Time start (Incision), Time finish (Closure)

·          Audit – monthly and annual – No. of admissions, operations and deaths.

These records may be asked for when a member applies for IASG awards/ honours.

16.   IASG Digital Library – EC applauded Dr Md Ibrarullah for his efforts. It was suggested that 15% of the sale should go to author and 15% to IASG (70% for the making charges).

17.   Secretary informed that he has already written to ASI and IASO to take steps to avoid clashing of dates of conferences in future.

18.   Dr VK Kapoor’s proposal  to establish a  Core Group on “Bile Duct Injuries”

1.       To collect data

2.       To formulate guidelines for management

3.       To identify centers for management
